Today marks a transformative moment for Kitui South—one that will be remembered as a turning point in our region’s development journey. With the visit of His Excellency President William Ruto, our constituency witnessed the launch of several landmark projects that promise to uplift lives, spur economic growth, and strengthen community resilience for generations to come.

President Ruto’s commitment to empowering our people was felt deeply through each announcement and initiative unveiled during his visit. Among the key highlights was the launch of the Ikutha–Kanziku–Mutha–Mutomo Road, a major infrastructural undertaking valued at KSh 1.27 billion. This road is expected to enhance connectivity, ease transportation of goods, improve access to markets, and open up our region for new opportunities.
Equally impactful is the KSh 2.2 billion electrification rollout for Kitui County, out of which Kitui South has been allocated KSh 524 million. This investment signals a brighter future—literally and figuratively—as more homes, schools, and businesses gain access to reliable electricity. Electrification is a cornerstone of modern development, and this rollout will empower local enterprises, improve education, enhance healthcare services, and boost general living standards.

The distribution of 15,417 title deeds to residents of Mutomo and Ikutha subcounties stands as another remarkable milestone. Secure land ownership is one of the strongest tools of empowerment, and these title deeds will foster economic stability, unlock access to credit, and give families the confidence to invest in their land and future.
Further strengthening our development agenda, the President launched the KSh 15 billion housing initiative, set to benefit both subcounties. This initiative is poised to create employment, stimulate the local economy, and improve living conditions for countless households.

A heartwarming gesture from His Excellency was the commitment of KSh 5 million to support Ikutha Girls with a new school bus. This contribution will significantly improve access to education, safety, and mobility for the students—an investment in the future of our daughters.
Personally, I am deeply honored by the President’s recognition of my efforts. His words of commendation reaffirm the importance of servant leadership and community-centered advocacy. I pledge to continue working tirelessly to ensure that Kitui South residents enjoy the full benefits of these development programs. Our region has immense potential, and with continued unity and collaboration, we are on the path to a brighter, more prosperous future.
