EAYP Meets Ministry Officials to Advance Water Security Solutions
Young people continue to demonstrate their role as dynamic change-makers, innovators, and catalysts for sustainable development. In recognition of this transformative power, a delegation from the East African Youth Parliament (EAYP), led by President Hon. Jeremiah Mumo Kisangau, paid a courtesy call to officials at Maji House in Nairobi.

As an affiliate of the East African Community (EAC), EAYP has remained steadfast in its mission to empower young people across the region through advocacy, leadership development, and economic empowerment. Our work spans critical sectors including governance, entrepreneurship, human rights, climate change, and environmental sustainability—areas where youth involvement is not only beneficial but essential.
The meeting focused on one of the most urgent challenges facing Kenya today: water security. With rainfall patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable, innovative water storage and management solutions have become vital. Discussions explored practical strategies for mitigating the impact of seasonal and irregular rainfall through improved water harvesting and storage systems. Such systems are key to ensuring reliable irrigation—an essential driver of agricultural productivity and a major opportunity for youth-led agribusiness.

Beyond immediate solutions, the dialogue opened doors to future collaboration between the Ministry and the East African Youth Parliament in the water, sanitation, and irrigation sectors. These partnerships will be instrumental in equipping young people with the tools, knowledge, and platforms needed to engage meaningfully in environmental and climate resilience efforts.
The courtesy call reinforced a shared commitment: empowering youth to lead innovation that strengthens national development. As Kenya continues to confront climate-related challenges, EAYP stands ready to work alongside government institutions and regional partners to champion solutions that secure a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
